Around Uplyme

We took a wander around the apartment we were staying in after getting back from River Cottage.  There are some really nice houses there, check out that back garden in the first photo!  A couple of the cookery demonstrations we attended during the day were talking about wild garlic - and it is everywhere around Uplyme.  I suppose I had never had my eyes open to it before so it's probably everywhere.  We grabbed some for that nights dinner (if only every day could be like that!) and it was really nice, not too strong.  Around this walk I also spotted some bluebells.  I don't think I've seen any before so I was quite chuffed.  I'm realising recently that as a youngster I didn't really look around at the world we live in, I'm so naive!

Seabass and wild garlic - was so nice

Sunny times at River Cottage

Mark and I are not ashamed to say at all that we are River Cottage groupies.

I got Mark membership to River Cottage for Christmas and the first thing he did with his joining discount was get tickets to the "Get Growing in Spring" event.  The event is an opportunity to get ready for the summer, swapping produce, buying seeds, updating knowledge via talks from the River Cottage experts and, well, like we did take photos of River Cottage itself.

It was a great day out, we ate, we drank, we went to lots of talks and we soaked up the glorious sun.

One room living

So after my worried post on Friday we had an amazing weekend apparently you can be really lucky with the weather!

I had to devote an entire blog post to the place we stayed - it was a proper gem.  It's a studio outside a big house in deepest darkest Devon/Dorset border (seriously one minute your in Dorset, the next you're in Devon I have no idea where we were sleeping!).

The lady who owns it has style as you can see.
