Weymouth

A couple of weekends ago we visited my parents down in Dorset and went to Weymouth for the day.  It was a bit of a muggy grey day but as long as it doesn't rain I'm happy.  We went for a walk along an old railway which led us to Weymouth harbour.

I love visiting harbours they are always peaceful, you can sit down and people watch as there is always so much going on.  The trouble is I always want a boat, I get pretty jealous of the people docking up to get some snacks and then sailing off to the next harbour.  When my parents said we were going to get a boat I was beside myself!  I thought perhaps they do boat hire what a treat?! Ha oh no we had a little ferry from one side of the harbour to the other, I was easily amused though.

Any boat will do!

It was a short walk from the other side of the harbour to the beach.  I took these pictures on my SLR and the film doesn't really love grey days so the beach doesn't look very enticing but it did look much better.  It summed up summer holidays there were kids everywhere with their buckets and spades and mums and dads with all the kit: tents, windbreaks, deckchair, the works! It look quite stressful but perhaps that will be us one day!

We sat on the beach for a short while while I picked up some more energy (I'm not quite up for long walks anymore!) before heading home.

Day tripping

We had a busy three days around Menorca in the car; driving down narrow dirt tracks to tropical beaches and into authentic Spanish towns to watch the world go by.

We went to a beautiful fishing village, Fornells and ate amazing seafood while watching fishermen sail off in their little boats in between very rich people with their fancy yachts.

We also visited the old capital Ciutadella and walked through narrow streets admiring how different every house was and dreamt of living the Spanish life.

I've posted this so late, it now seems like years ago we went to Menorca! I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to post I wrote it pretty much as soon as we got back.  I sat and edited the pics on the VSCO app and really love the outcome but when the pictures are put together (along with some instagram photos) it all looks a bit over edited.

I'm worried that I've lost the passion in taking the actual photos and focusing efforts in making any old thing look pretty afterwards.

I'm definitely going to go back to my love of film photography where the content is important so you don't waste precious film and try and stop using all the fancy camera apps.

Though bear with me we took very few photos from a wedding this weekend and I wanted to blog the day so set instagram/VSCO to work and am happy for now.

So for now I will get to work on ordering some new films and plan the new journey....I also need to do some more bump pictures!!

Padstow

There is so much of our honeymoon left to blog I'm going to integrate lots of pretty Eden Project posts within all of this so I hope you all enjoy the ride!

Before going to our cottage in St Ives we stopped off at Padstow.  It's a really lovely place with lots to do nearby I would like to go back and explore in more detail one day.

Lessons learnt

When we were in London in the summer we went to the Lomography store and purchased some film.  The conditions to get the best photos from this film are bright sunshine and then lots of colours which will then come through beautifully.  Of course we're not experts and know this now we have had a film devleoped.

The first part of our film was taken in London on a really cloudy day, in St Ives as the sun was going down and then on Sunday just gone when the sun did come out....hmm

Here are some of my favourites from the film.  Lesson learnt: put film in camera if conditions suit and use it up sooner than 6 months.
