Day tripping

We had a busy three days around Menorca in the car; driving down narrow dirt tracks to tropical beaches and into authentic Spanish towns to watch the world go by.

We went to a beautiful fishing village, Fornells and ate amazing seafood while watching fishermen sail off in their little boats in between very rich people with their fancy yachts.

We also visited the old capital Ciutadella and walked through narrow streets admiring how different every house was and dreamt of living the Spanish life.

I've posted this so late, it now seems like years ago we went to Menorca! I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to post I wrote it pretty much as soon as we got back.  I sat and edited the pics on the VSCO app and really love the outcome but when the pictures are put together (along with some instagram photos) it all looks a bit over edited.

I'm worried that I've lost the passion in taking the actual photos and focusing efforts in making any old thing look pretty afterwards.

I'm definitely going to go back to my love of film photography where the content is important so you don't waste precious film and try and stop using all the fancy camera apps.

Though bear with me we took very few photos from a wedding this weekend and I wanted to blog the day so set instagram/VSCO to work and am happy for now.

So for now I will get to work on ordering some new films and plan the new journey....I also need to do some more bump pictures!!

Beaches

Well...let's face it this is not a post that displays my attempt at photography or tells a story of what I'm up to like I normally do.  It's one big show off post about the lovely beaches we went to on our holiday! I have one more post which will be in a style like my normal posts.

So here we are, lots of beaches around the south coast of Menorca and some flowers too.  I was looking through my pics and struggling to believe that two hours away on the plane there is a sunny place with no rain but the weather is looking up people! This rain is forecast to go away next week just in time for my best friend's wedding I can't wait!!

Sunny evenings

Ahh Spain...I love it so much I'm almost certain that when Mark and I retire we will move out there.  It may never happen but I'm happy to let that dream sit in our heads.

Moments enjoyed this trip:

Swimming in the sea * cooking and enjoying simple Spanish dishes in our apartment * watching the sun set with a cocktail * freezing cold shower after a hot day * fresh mussels and tonnes of fresh bread to mop up the juice * getting out of the resort which seemed to cater only for Brits and see Menorca * white sand, clear water * walks hand in hand in the shallow sea * carrying a light bag as it didn't have an umbrella in it * walking around harbours * sitting on a jetty and dipping legs into the sea * narrow streets through old towns soaking up the shade * cafe con leche and people watching with my husband

So we're back from a wonderful holiday in Menorca.  It was crazy hot we didn't see temperatures less than 30 degrees every day and our apartment was located in a very hilly location.  It was stifling around the pool as we had no sea breeze and the sea was a mammoth 190 steps down a cliff - sounds like someone didn't do her research before booking the holiday!  We spent a few days around the pool and eating out in the resort/making up some Spanish style dishes in the apartment then hired a car for the rest of the holiday where we went to lots of beaches and visited a pretty fishing village "Fornells" and the old capital "Ciutadella".

These photos show the sunny evenings we enjoyed.  On the last night we went to Cova d'en Xoroi which is a highly overpriced bar set into the cliffs very near to our apartment.  For one night though we allowed ourselves a treat and enjoyed a cocktail while watching the sun set behind the cliffs.
