A little bit of the Peak District

Before going over to see one of my oldest friends get married (and partake in the old bridesmaid activity) we booked the day off to go for a bit of exploring in the Peak District.  In the morning I visited our local butchers, bakers etc to put together a bit of a picnic and off we set.  In typical sods law fashion there were two major accidents on our route which meant some pretty hefty navigation from me and it ended up taking 6 hours to get to there instead of 3.  The journey we planned meant a detour from the route we would have taken just to go to the wedding venue and hindsight meant we could have just gone straight to the venue and planned a picnic around that area instead which was just as nice.

Instead we picnicked at a service station and spent half an hour walking a route I had planned to spend more time at.

It was very lovely though and the drive through the Peak District was great - it felt like we were in Scotland again and we are very excited to go back and show our children how great Britain is.

These pictures were taken when I was exactly 20 weeks pregnant.  I was feeling pretty amazing and only having a little bump to take care of.  I'm now over 22 weeks pregnant and already I'm aching, tired and generally feeling a bit rubbish - and so it begins!! I think I've got away with it so far.  I'm now desperate to get the next few months of work finished and sit myself on the sofa and wait for the baby to come.

We have some nice things planned in the meantime though to take my attention away from it all.  Mark turns 30 in a few weeks and we've got a real treat of a weekend planned I can't wait I might be more excited for this than I was for our Menorca holiday and I worry I'm more excited than the birthday boy!!

We also had a really nice weekend away back home seeing family which I'll blog pretty shortly, not forgetting a few snaps of the wedding we went to as well.

More exploring

The weekend before last was a relaxed affair before I went away with work.  We really had to get out the house though so went for more wanderings around the village.  I'm so happy the outdoors is on our doorstep it's unbelievably good for the hayfever too.  I don't know if any other hayfever sufferers out there find this but for some reason I'm a mess in cities or anywhere really built up I can't figure it out.  I was a mess last week when I was staying near London but now I'm back home I'm much better, which is good when you can't take the usual pills for the baby's sake.

We did the weekly bump pic, it's still petite though I seem to have had a growth spurt while being away.  Quite a big growth I'm worrying that I'm going to be silly huge by the end of the pregnancy!

Overton wanderings

I forgot to say thank you in my last blog post to the lovely readers who wished us well so thank you Rhianne, Dora, Charlie, Jen, Naomi, Katie and Nell.  I'm not going to lie every single one of your names I put with "Moore" to see if it had a ring to them and our chosen middle name (at the moment) of a girl and a few did well.  We've always had a boys name in mind so I'm pretty sure as luck would have it we will be having a girl!

This weekend was pretty quiet, Mark went off to a stag do and I had my parents up we chatted about the future.  As a result of these conversations I'm currently researching mortgages what a headache! I think it will teach me a lesson in how to be patient.

When Mark got home all groggy and sore from a combination of paintballing and drinking we went for a walk to wake ourselves up.  It was really nice and we saw a lot more of our village which is so much better than where we used to live I'm looking forward to walking our little one round here (unless we can get on the property ladder before then which would mean moving west where it's cheaper - lesson one in patience!).  Hope you all had a good one and managed to get something done in this terrible weather!

Around Dorset/Devon

The photos below show what we were up to between River Cottage and wandering around the cottage. Our fish was bought from Lyme Regis which is a nice place though really busy - especially when the sun shines!  The first photo is totally misleading as to the left of me there were hundreds of children running into the sea, people taking a first bite of their ice cream before the seagulls run away with it and general British "it's sunny so I shall wear hardly anything and grin and bear it" gotta love it!

We didn't stay very long at the beach and after wandering around the shops we took a river walk back to the car.

We had to check out of the studio pretty early the next day and since the clocks had just gone forward the roads were completely empty.  We headed west to a little fishing village called 'Beer'.  I remember going there when I was about ten and really enjoying it so I had to suggest a second look.

Golden Cap

Here are the rest of the best photos from the black and white film I picked up this weekend.  These photos are from a camping trip we had in West Dorset where we walked up the Golden Cap.  I've also included some colour photos we took.
