Home sweet 'new' home

Our wishes finally came true last weekend and we moved all our belongings to the new home.  It was totally exhausting as we did it ourselves over 3 days and to make things worse I picked up a sinus infection along the way.  I still have it but will hopefully be back to my old self in a few days which means more blogging so watch this space.

'Get well' flowers from my lovely husband - would like to get out in the garden now please!!!

A party and a pledge

I'm currently on the impatient last leg of waiting to move house.  With less than a week to go I've climbed into a cave where inside I'm sulking and working from home because the amount of journeys I take to work are unbearable.  You would have thought that getting 4 buses a day would "drive" me to take lessons but alas my job in road safety seems to terrify me into getting into the driving seat.

Next week I'll be a nice ten minutes away and I can't wait...literally.  Luckily all my weekends recently have been busy and last weekend was probably the busiest.  I went up to Manchester to catch up with one of my oldest friends and then go to the celebration of my friend Charlie's company as she celebrated running it for 5 years.

It was a really nice celebration and Charlie was the perfect host.  I helped set up the flowers before though didn't do as many arrangements as Charlie as I was a bit nervous of messing up with the lovely flowers Charlie had got.  The flowers were from Blossom flowers in Chorlton who source British flowers and the foliage was foraged by Charlie herself.

Here are just a few photos of the decor before the guests arrived.

Speaking of British flowers I've joined the campaign to support British flowers as you can see by the badge on the left.  I will make sure that I check where flowers are grown when I buy them and I'm going to try my damn hardest to grow some!!

On the great blog by Vanessa Kimbell there is a competition to grow the best posy and so for this I have signed up and made a wish list of zinnias and cosmos supplied by Thompson & Morgan.  Fingers crossed there will be something to show by August.

Portobello Road

For our long Easter weekend we went to London to look after my brother's cats while he went away.
Meet 'Baileys'

When we first arrived we weren't in the mood for trekking too far into town so took the tube a few stops to Notting Hill and wandered around Portobello Road as it was closing down for the day.  We had a coffee in a pretty yard, bought some bits for dinner from a Spanish shop and generally just soaked up the goings on as the hub died down.

New Covent Garden Flower Market

Thank you so much for the comments on my last post, you're all so lovely.

A couple of weekends ago I got up the frightful hour of 5am on a Saturday(!!!) to go to New Covent Garden flower market in London.  Jay organised a trip primarily for her brides and grooms so they can get a feel for all the flowers available and then a few friends like me went too.

I wasn't going to blog about the trip because I didn't really take many photos I was too busy wowing at all the flowers but I enjoyed myself so much I thought I would show a few of the flowery pics, certainly some I had never seen before!

For some much more professional photos see Jays blog.  There are some great photos that tell a much better story of what we got up to and you can see the crate I bought, I shall be making a herb garden very soon....

Easter flowers

Happy Easter everyone! I hope it's been a relaxing break for you all. We're currently residing in London for a few days cat sitting for my brother. We haven't been making the most of London by adventuring too much, instead relaxing and living like locals you could say.

I thought I would try and brighten up what has been quite a gloomy time of it weather wise with some flowers I received recently from the lovely Jay. After doing a photo shoot Jay brought round a bucket of flowers that weren't used and I attempted a bit of flower arranging.

I'm so desperate to get out of our tiny house and flex my wings a bit that playing with flowers took my mind off things and I quite enjoyed the afternoon but definitely won't be quitting my day job. I'm looking forward to hopefully growing some flowers but don't think I will have as many flowers in one go this time to play with.

March roundup

March's roundup includes views from my office, photos taken from the car on all the road trips we've done recently and a few from London.

My Mum - she is more trendy than me!
